Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Project Engineer to join our team as we expand our operations in Marystown, NL. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale construction projects, particularly those involving complex concrete and rebar structures. This role will require a deep understanding of construction techniques, quality control, and the ability to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. In addition to inspections, the Senior Project Engineer will be the lead technical contact, and be involved with all other engineering aspects to support the successful completion of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the design, and execution of concrete and rebar-related scope.
- Ensure all project activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct thorough inspections of concrete and rebar installations to ensure quality, adherence to specifications, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to concrete and rebar work in real time. Provide technical support and guidance to contractors and construction crews to resolve engineering-related issues effectively.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure materials and equipment necessary for project execution.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in concrete and rebar construction.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, recommendations, and any deviations from project plans.
- Assist the Project Manager and project engineering team in coordinating construction activities, scheduling inspections, and managing project documentation.
- Assist in reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate regularly with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to provide updates on construction activities and address any concerns.
- Provide input on the selection of construction materials and equipment to ensure compatibility with project requirements and budget constraints.
- Support the development of engineering specifications, standards, and procedures for construction activities.
- Act as liaison between on site concrete contractor and structural concrete engineer on record.
- RFI review. Able to provide response in a timely fashion between the EOR and concrete contractor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in construction engineering, with a focus on concrete and rebar projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale concrete and rebar projects. Strong knowledge of concrete and rebar inspection techniques, as well as relevant codes and standards.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license is preferred but not required.
- Experience with mechanical/electrical work packages considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
