Venor is proud to partner with Track Group in their search for a Senior Systems Administrator.

A global leader in providing end-to-end location monitoring and predictive behavioral solutions, Track Group’s products and systems combine real-time tracking devices (ankle monitors and more) and professional monitoring services with advanced data analytics. Their focus is  delivering electronic monitoring products and services for the global criminal justice market.

Working at Track Group means providing their clients with tools that improve safety for domestic violence victims, reduce overcrowding in prisons, responsibly transition individuals more quickly from prison to a supervised version of their regular lives, and advise overworked supervision officers which individuals need their attention the most.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be a key member of the Operations team and be responsible for effective software installation/configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, release deployment and support of mission-critical production application systems and various development/internal systems. Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, you will interface directly with internal teams and customers as well as external vendors as needed and participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This role is critical to the success of Track Group. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure uptime for mission-critical systems and applications as part of a team responsible to maintain system availability of 99%.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth technical understanding of the systems and applications managed and supported by the Network Operations team.
  • Administration, installation, and configuration of web and application servers, and custom enterprise applications.
  • Deploy new production and pre-production environments, install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software/system-related problems.
  • Respond to, triage, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve/escalate system problems and service desk issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor, analyze, and audit application/network/system logs, backups, and health checks.  
  • Proactively create and communicate action plans to respond to potential issues, risks, or threats.
  • Effectively document and communicate system changes/issues/risks to the appropriate Track Group stakeholders, partners, and vendors.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule and be prepared to accommodate occasional travel, as well as night and weekend work, based on business needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education and Experience: University Degree in Computer Science or five years of related experience combined with technical certifications.
  • Server Administration: Excellent Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems administration skills (Windows Server 2012R2+, Ubuntu 14.0.4+), including remote management and monitoring tools (RDP, SSH).
  • Enterprise Systems Expertise: Proven experience in administering, installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise applications/systems as a subject matter expert (SME).
  • Web and Virtualization Technologies: Strong knowledge of web server technologies (Microsoft IIS, Apache, Nginx) and virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V).
  • Scripting and Automation: Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.
  • Problem-Solving and Analysis: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues through trends, patterns, or ambiguous information.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to integrate and collaborate effectively with team members and end-users at all levels.
  • Continuous Learning: Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and technologies quickly.
  • Work Management: Outstanding attention to detail, with superior time management, documentation, and project coordination abilities.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive, self-motivated approach to completing tasks independently.
  • Other Requirements: Must have a valid passport.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Cloud and Containerization: Familiarity with container administration (Docker) and Azure environments.
  • Specialized Tools: Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA, Redmine) and load balancers (NetScaler, etc.).
  • Mail Systems and Security: Knowledge of mail system administration (Postfix) and certificate authority management (SSL/TLS).
