About The Opportunity

Venor is proud to partner with WCB on their search for a new Statistical Analyst to join their team. The Statistical Analyst provides support and backup to the Manager, Business Intelligence, and contributes to the development and maintenance of data models, reports, and analyses. This position will involve creating Power BI dashboards and reports and frequent scripting in SQL to enhance the organization’s data insights. The Statistical Analyst also works in collaboration with the organization’s Data Analysts to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of WCB’s data warehouse, supporting data integration, modelling, and reporting. The Statistical Analyst serves as the Nova Scotia representative on both the AWCBC NWISP Committee (Analysts) and is responsible for all data and extracts submitted to the AWCBC for jurisdictional analysis. 

These include annual submissions for NWISP reporting, as well as work related to both official and proposed Indicator Ratios and Key Statistical Measures (KSMs). Additionally, the Statistical Analyst will play a key role in supplying data for jurisdictional reports and assisting with the development of public awareness messaging related to workplace injury statistics. Participation in the WCB Assessment Rate Setting process also falls under the role of the Statistical Analyst.

The Statistical Analyst is also responsible for assisting management in the development and reporting of performance measures and provides advice and input into the appropriate use and comparisons of these measures; developing and analyzing benchmark statistics in the development of new projects and initiatives to evaluate their success, and to serve as predictive indicators for potential cost or resource savings of these efforts; assist in the development and use of public awareness messaging around workplace injury statistics; work with all WCB teams to analyze and develop changes within and across departments to improve efficiency and effectiveness of services; provide expert direction on statistical data to other WCB Analysts make cost-benefit analyses which aid the organization in meeting

About You

As the ideal candidate, you satisfy the following requirements:

  • A university degree with a concentration in one of the following areas: finance or accounting, information technology, data science, applied statistics or mathematics
  • At least two year’s experience with the utilization of a large computerized database and related analytical tools

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI data modelling and report builds
  • Proficiency with SQL scripting
  • Knowledge of data analytics
    • Database and data warehousing
    • Data and model visualization methods
    • Statistics and machine learning
