Venor is proud to partner with The Meteghan Home Hardware Building Centre on their search for a Store Manager to join their team! The Meteghan Home Hardware Building Centre is locally owned and operated offering a full line of services and supplies for home renovations.

As the Store Manager, you will report to the Operations Manager and organize, motivate, and supervise the performance of the Lumber and Building Material and Hardline departments to reach target sales and strategic goals. If you have a positive mindset and are passionate about the home improvement industry this could be a great opportunity for you to work with a community centered leadership team and bring the store mission from concept to reality!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Build strong relationships with retail and contractor customers, wholesaler/manufacturer representatives, delivery personnel, and employees.
  • Plan and organize events and activities, both in and outside of the business property to facilitate growth and sales development.
  • Establish sales and productivity goals for the store and maintain profitability by evaluating customer purchases and inventory ordering practices using the POS system to effectively merchandise and stock key SKU’s.
  • Maintain a profitable warehouse by reducing fleet breakdowns, minimizing cull lumber, and ensure deliveries are efficient and accurate.
  • Ensure all new staff are properly trained with knowledge and skills required to provide the best customer service to maximize sales and leverage add-on sales opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure staff have the resources, mentorship, and training to be successful in their role and develop future growth opportunities.
  • Manage workplace conflict to facilitate prompt settlement or disciplinary action regarding employee or customer issues and maintain accurate records of any violations.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss problems, review objectives, and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Establish and maintain safety training and loss prevention programs to promote safe workplace practices and report any potential hazards or unsafe behavior.
  • Work with the HR department to help develop, manage, and communicate any new HR policies, procedures, and new strategic programs to ensure compliance with the company’s operational process.

What We’re Looking For:

As the ideal candidate, you have proven home improvement experience in hardware, retail, lumber, building material industries or related business-to-business experience. You are detail oriented and use your planning and time management skills to prioritize demands from multiple projects with little supervision. You have a high degree of expense awareness and have an entrepreneurial spirit to maximize the profitability of the business.

As the successful candidate, you provide the highest level of customer service to mitigate any issues in a high pressure and changing environment. You have demonstrated experience effectively leading a team and building relationships to create a culture that values sharing feedback, ideas, and opinions. Bilingual in French is an asset.
