Kentville, NS

Founded in 1969, Family Service of Eastern Nova Scotia (FSENS) works with funding and community partners to build a society where individuals, families and communities feel connected in healthy supportive relationships. Presently, we have expanded our service area to include Sydney, Glace Bay, Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Kenvtille, and Bridgewater. Our Organization works alongside individuals, families and communities to honour their diversity and strengths, create space for self-exploration and support them in maintaining healthy relationships.

Family Service is seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented professional to serve on our Board of Directors as Treasurer. The Organization is governed by a volunteer board of twelve directors who are reflective of Nova Scotia. The board is a policy governing board, which operates under the authority of bylaws, policies, and committee terms of references. Board members serve a three-year term, with an opportunity to renew the position for a further term. Board Meetings are held four times per year virtually along with our Annual General Meeting in June.  All board members must participate in a Vulnerable Persons Screening.

FSENS serves a diverse community and is looking for emerging and experienced leaders from both urban and rural areas, from different age groups and varied ethno-cultural communities. We encourage applicants from First Nations and African-Nova Scotian communities, as well as from diverse backgrounds. In particular, the Board is seeking members from the Kentville area and an individual with experience in finance and accounting.

For more information to apply, please forward your expression of interest and resume to Shardeigh McGillivray via shardeigh@venor.ca. We will be accepting applications until May 15th, 2022.
