Venor is proud to partner with our client, Champlain Seafood, in their search for a Vice President of Operations. Specializing in North American seafood live trade, distribution and processing, Champlain Seafood focuses on Atlantic lobster and snow crab sourced from the Canadian Maritimes and American Northeast. The company sells its products to customers in the food industry, and enjoys privileged relationships with fishermen, helping it secure reliable and quality products and customer service.
Reporting to the COO, the Vice President of Operations will be responsible for overseeing the facilities and assisting with standardizing processes, change management and continuous improvement initiatives. You will provide leadership and guidance to Plant Directors, ensuring production and quality goals are met while maintaining a safe work environment. As a leader, you will participate in people management including performance management to maintain positive working relationships, production outputs, and will allocate resources effectively to fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Ensure that key leadership in each functional area in operations is of the highest standard and develop the organization to ever improving results in quality and compliance.
- Oversee and synchronize operations and production plans to deliver appropriate finished goods quantities of products as required to fulfill customer order demand.
- Allocate resources effectively to fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Identify areas for continuous improvement and develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, cost savings, metrics and performance targets and any potential risks that may contribute to the long-term strategic plans.
As the successful candidate, you have 10 years of experience in a senior leadership position, ideally in the consumer-packaged goods or seafood industry, combined with a business or engineering degree/diploma. You pride yourself on having strong leadership skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to support the overall success of the company. As a change leader, you have experience standardizing operations to drive company success while focusing on financials and company culture. Experience with change management tools & methodologies (i.e., Lean Manufacturing, LEAN Six Sigma) is an asset. Bilingualism in English and French would be considered an asset.
