On behalf of the IWK Foundation, we are seeking a self-motivated, intuitive individual to lead its financial operations in collaboration with the Manager of Finance and team.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance provides a unique opportunity to be a seasoned leader to not only bring strong financial acumen to the role but an innate ability to foster relationships and collaborate. As the Director of Finance, you thrive on having both the autonomy and ability to collaborate and work with your colleagues while prioritizing and problem-solving with ease.
A key member of the senior leadership team, you are entrenched in all facets of the business, driven by helping to maximize donor dollars, efficiency, and performance. You must be detail oriented, highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and work effectively in a team environment. You are motivated by purpose but understand the complexities of our industry and you can anticipate what needs to be done, switching from strategy to rolling up your sleeves with ease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as financial lead for accountability to donors, the volunteer Treasurer, the volunteer Finance & Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies for maximizing financial return including evaluating new business opportunities, maximizing cash, and overseeing investment and expense management.
- Act as the Financial lead with IWK Health’s Finance team including capital project cash flows, distributions, funding requests, tracking of special projects and oversight of Trust Funds and Endowments.
- In collaboration with the Manager of Finance, facilitate and oversee the year-end audit preparation process ensuring completeness and accuracy of all supporting documentation, liaising with the external auditors, and ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
- Manage the relationship with the outsourced Chief Investment Officer, our partner financial institution, and other externalpartners relevant to financial management.
- Expert understanding of the IWK Foundation Fund Policy and Investment Policy, ensuring compliance to processes outlined.
- In liaison with the Manager of Finance, responsible for all financial reporting, analysis, risk management, policies, and internal controls.
- Oversee the completion of the annual revenue and expense budget.
- Develops a suite of financial reporting and cadence for review with members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversee and provide guidance to the month end financial statement production process.
As the successful candidate, you have a Professional Accounting Designation along with a minimum of 10 years in a financial leadership role. You are driven by organizational excellence and lead your team to enable this. You thrive in an environment wherethe expertise of you and your team is one cog in the wheel and your thinking is not siloed but through the lens of overall strategic improvement.
As the ideal candidate, you are both strategic and technically strong in all matters relating to finance, but you would also consideryourself to use common sense in all that you do. You will have the most success with our hard-working team if you are purpose-driven, passionate about our cause and are confident in your role. Experience with MS Dynamics would be considered a definite asset.
