Technical Sales Representative


Venor is proud to partner with CGIS on their search for a Technical Sales Representative to join their team. CGIS was founded in 1980 and continues to be an industry leader in Severe Service Valves. With over 40 years of extensive experience, CGIS has played a key role in sculpting the valve automation industry thanks to their industry veterans and their dedication to continuous learning.

Reporting to the Territory Manager, the Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for managing and growing the business across Saskatchewan through consultative selling of our industry leading valve, automation, and service products while promoting the message that the application dictates the valve. This position will cover assigned clients in the Mining, Oil and Gas, Power, Pulp & Paper, Refining, Water/Wastewater industries.  

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Grow the business in your assigned territory by proactively selling our core brands.
  • Maintain and grow a territory of at least $3 million.
  • Foster relationships with existing and new customers based on successfully helping them meet their needs each day.
  • Provide direction and guidance on technical solutions for clients and work closely with the CGIS Applications Specialist team to execute customer requirements.
  • Communicate with existing customers to resolve product issues, ensuring the appropriate products are being used, displacing competitive product lines, and suggesting alternate solutions that best meet the customer’s needs.
  • Ensure understanding all requirements of customers’ needs to assist the CGIS inside sales team with timely and accurate quotes.
  • Continually grow your knowledge of products and the applications in which they operate.
  • Support our vendor base by presenting their products with skill and enthusiasm. Show a willingness to work and travel with core vendors.
  • Teach and challenge the client and team about the best product for the application.
  • Maintain activities in SAP B1 database and utilize and product sizing tools to their fullest potential.
  • Navigate successfully through End User, Engineering, and OEM clients.
  • Travel required up to 60% of the time.

Required Technical Knowledge

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Process Engineering or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of industrial sales experience with extensive knowledge of industrial valves.

  • Natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge and continual learning.
  • Embraces change and recognizes that change is an essential part of progress.
  • Strong technical aptitude with attention to detail and excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Recognized as a technical expert on core products.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
